PLEASE NOTE:
- Two Half-Day Classes + Lunch Break: You can make it a full day! If you enroll your child in both a morning and an afternoon half-day class, they will be supervised all day. Just make sure to send a packed lunch.
- 2-in-1 SUMMER FUN: These classes are a package deal. Students are automatically registered for both, one a.m. and one p.m.
- "Day Camp": Every week, we offer a classic "day camp" option, along with all the other classes. There's a different theme each week, and in addition to arts, crafts, and games, students will often go swimming and enjoy other fun off-campus experiences. Day camp is separated into a K group, a 1st-2nd grade group, and a 3rd-5th grade group, with age-appropriate activities for each.
- Class Length: End-times differ for some classes and are clearly indicated in each listing. Many end at 4:00 p.m. but others end at 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. Some are half-day and end before lunch (at 12:00 p.m.) or start after lunch (at 1:00 p.m).
Tips for Registering:
> Waitlist: Some classes fill up quickly, but there is a waitlist available. (No charge until after a space opens up, you are contacted, and you accept).
> Multiple students: If you are registering more than one child, you will be prompted to sign up for all the classes for one child, and then for the second, etc.

Day Camp: Underwater Adventures (Rising K-5th)

We’re kicking off our first week with an exploration of life under the sea! We’ll be diving deep into the study of sharks, whales, dolphins, and more amazing underwater creatures and their ecosystems. In addition to arts, crafts, and games, students will go swimming, have on and off campus experiences, and enjoy an abundance of outdoor activities. All activities are adapted for each age group and day camp is separated by a kindergarten group, 1st-2nd grade group, and a 3rd-5th group.
Music Together: Rhythm Kids with Music Center of the NW (Rising K-1st)

Rhythm Kids® by Music Together® could be the next musical step for your child. Each day of camp we will drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments, and play music-based games. Rhythm Kids® guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative. They will make up their own drumming patterns, invent new ways to play rhythm instruments (shakers, sticks, etc.) and create movement ideas for songs. They'll even take a drum solo! We will also spend time doing fun crafts. Families are invited to a celebration at the end of the last day to see what their children have been working on! Enrolled children will receive: A Rhythm Kids® by Music Together® songbook as well as a CD, a music download code, and access to coloring pages and musical games via the “Music Together” app. Songbook, CD and download code will be distributed the first day of class.
About the Instructors: Mariah Fraser is the assistant director of the Music Together program at Music Center of the Northwest, where she's taught these classes for the last seven years; she also teaches ukulele to adults and children. She loves showing people how much fun music can be, and how it brings us together! Kate Schneider has spent the last seven years practicing music therapy in a pediatric therapy clinic in Boise Idaho. Using a child-led and neurodiversity-affirmative approach, she focuses on creating a therapeutic space where everyone can feel supported to explore, create and connect within music.
Little Coders (Rising K-1st)

Our Little Coders camp is an opportunity for young children to develop their computational thinking skills, build their first programs, and have fun with new friends! The curriculum is designed specifically for early readers and takes into account cognitive abilities as well as the attention span typical for ages 5-7. We use age-appropriate online tools, including Lightbot, Kodable, and Scratch to introduce basic coding skills. After the camp, students will be able to share their projects with family and friends and continue programming at home with their Coding with Kids Scratch account.

Welcome to LHC’s Machine Sewing Summer Camp! Whether you’re brand new to machine sewing or already have experience, this camp is designed to cater to all skill levels. All students will receive a full machine safety overview, after which new students will complete our beginner sewing curriculum, while more experienced students can build off their existing skills and take their sewing abilities to the next level! This class is student-led, and kids will advance at their own pace with autonomy over the projects they choose to create. What better way to spend summer days than hiking in and around our beautiful Seattle! These day hikes are great for the beginner hiking enthusiast, and the camp is designed to teach the value of hiking while enjoying the outdoors. Each morning we'll head out for a hike with plenty of rest stops, nature education, and fun along the way. Students should bring a comfortable backpack to sufficiently carry their lunch and water bottle. They must also have sturdy tie-up sneakers or hiking boots. We'll be visiting parks with beach access, so plan to get a little wet and dirty each day!

Painting & Drawing: In Little Hands Creations’ Painting & Drawing camp, our young artists will flex their creative muscles and paint a masterpiece all their own! Each class will begin with a short introduction to our project and art concept of the week. Then students will follow step-by-step directions to draw our artwork of the day. We will make everything from sunsets to seascapes, animals, still lifes, and much more. Students are always encouraged to exercise their creativity and make any changes they desire to their picture. As we draw and paint together, students will learn basic art skills and exercise their creativity. Python is a very versatile and easy-to-learn starter language that is widely used by software developers, scientists and data analysts, from medical research to applications at NASA. Projects range from trivia quizzes to competitive two-player games and everything in between. Students will gain valuable experience with key concepts such as data structures and algorithms.

For decades, zines have served as a way for people to independently share their art and ideas with others. This camp will provide students with the skills and resources to create a totally unique piece that can be easily copied and shared with others! We will primarily focus on digital zine-making using Adobe Illustrator and students will also be able to explore analogue methods, such as ink sketching, collage, and painting. In addition to creating our own zines, we will visit the Seattle Public Library to explore a zine archive to learn how different communities utilized zines to share information and build community. At the end of the week, students will leave camp with 10 color copies of their complete zines and copies of their classmates' work as well.

Philosophy is both the foundation and the peak of education, and young people are naturals at it if given the chance. In this introductory class, we will start with stories, games and movie and video clips, and then move on together to rediscover the biggest, most perplexing issues of all. Rather than be told answers, students will generate questions, by thinking together about science, ethics, art, and more. We will discover that thought is a great deal of fun, while developing critical thinking and listening carefully to each other. Because there is no end to puzzlement or to understanding, this class is never the same twice, and so is appropriate for both first-time and returning students. Dialogue is guided by the instructor.

Welcome to Little Hands Creations’ Quilting Summer Camp! This engaging and hands-on camp is tailored to introduce young learners to the art of quilting, patchwork, and machine sewing. Students will start with a simple 4-square pillow, and then advance to more complex quilting patterns like the optical sawtooth and electric fan. Join Instructors of Skate Journeys led by Trish Alexander. In this class, students are taught the basic foundation of skate moves, which includes striding, stopping, and turning. Additional skills taught include "rules of the road," how to fall properly, and various tricks. Printmaking 101 (Rising 2nd-5th)

In this printmaking class, students will learn both intaglio and relief printmaking on the press. We will learn dry-point engraving and relief techniques (collagraph) and create beautiful, original artwork suitable for framing. Students will learn every aspect of these two traditional printmaking techniques from designing an image to printing in multiple colors. Come learn this fun technique and make work that encourages self-expression and craft.

Art is a necessary focus at the center of the learning experience. (Mindshift)
We create art as a way to express ourselves and focus on process rather than product. This week we will be learning and incorporating the seven elements of art with various art mediums and introductions to different artists as we build our hand-eye coordination, improve dexterity, and appreciate art. Projects will range from needlework and beading to creating collages and abstract pieces. Even though students are provided with smocks, please have your child wear comfortable clothes that can get messy.
Chinese Painting & Calligraphy (Rising 4th-9th)

This course will introduce students to the Chinese language and the sources of traditional Chinese culture. They will start by recognizing some Chinese pictographs. Next, they will learn the structure of Chinese characters and their meanings. Children will be exposed to different Chinese writing and painting techniques and understand the cultural background of the same origin of Chinese calligraphy and painting. Finally, at the end of the course, students will have calligraphy and Chinese painting work made by themselves.

Upcycling Arts (Rising 4th-9th)

This camp will explore several art practices that rely upon reused or found materials. Students will have the opportunity to explore working with both visual art and 3-D creations. Campers will visit Seattle's own creative reuse center to learn more about how other artists utilized reuse materials for their work and the environmental impacts. In addition to creating found object sculptures, students will learn several techniques for making small one-of-a-kind upcycled books that they may continue using for their reuse art long after the camp finishes. This camp will encourage students to select unique materials from their everyday life and develop an eye for noticing interesting materials as they navigate the world around them.

Come join us for a week of spectacular adventure into a world of calculating wizards, indomitable warriors, verdant woods, and of course, sprawling dungeons and ancient dragons. In this class, students will learn how to play 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. Also known as D&D, Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game where the players take on the role of a character of their design. These characters are a part of the world that a storyteller, also known as a Dungeon Master, creates. By the end of the week, students will have made their own characters, played an adventure, and defeated the evil of the realm! Based on the 47-season-and-counting hit reality competition show Survivor, this camp for our Evergreen castaways will be divided into three tribes and made to form a new society as they adapt to their physical and social surroundings! Players will compete in mental and physical challenges where they must make strategic decisions between personal risk and reward, while still attempting to form alliances to stay in the game. Tribes will be sent to Tribal Council where they must vote out players who will be sent to Redemption Island where they will compete in challenges and learn new skills to get themselves back in the game. Any players remaining on Redemption Island at the end of the week will form the Jury who will ultimately crown our Sole Survivor: the player who the Jury can agree has played the best game.

Philosophy is both the foundation and the peak of education, and young people are naturals at it if given the chance. In this introduction to philosophy class, we will start with stories, games and movie and video clips, and then move on together to rediscover the biggest, most perplexing issues of all. We will discover that thought is a great deal of fun, while developing critical thinking and listening carefully to each other. In this two-week production class, students become members of a small cast, and each day is filled with fun activities that build skills in musical theater performance. Every student enrolled receives a copy of the music, access to digital rehearsal files, and their own script in advance of rehearsals. Auditions take place on the first day of class. On the last day, August 8th, in partnership with our Backstage Crew and Costume Crew classes, actors will present two performances (3:00 pm and 7:00 pm) complete with sets, costumes, and lights. How to Lead Your Own Dungeons & Dragons Games (Rising 7th-9th)

Running through the dungeon and beating up the big bad dragon at the end is only half the game. This class will show you how to play the other half: how to manipulate your opponents to your advantage, laying complex plans and experiencing glorious moments as a Dungeon Master, the leader of your own game. But that can only happen if there is a game to play. This class will also teach tactics for how to navigate the social and out-of-game part of leading a D&D group, including scheduling, pitching your game to players, set up, conflict resolution, and more leadership skills.This class is for D&D players who already understand how to play and want to learn to plan and lead their own games, or for players who have already been DM-ing and want to learn more about how they can take their games to the next level. This class requires at least one year of play experience, and though not required, it is recommended to have played at least one game outside of my classes.

Think Like a Mathematician: Campers will investigate and explore mathematical theorems and ideas in fun explorations and activities geared toward young mathematicians.
