Annual Giving
The Evergreen Fund: $1,180,000 Annual Goal
As with other independent schools across the country, yearly tuition at Evergreen does not cover the full cost of educating our students. Each year, we rely on philanthropic support of The Evergreen Fund to finance everyday operating costs including teacher materials, faculty salaries, technology, financial aid, campus maintenance and much more.
As members of our community, all parents are asked to make a financial contribution to The Evergreen Fund that is meaningful for their family. Gifts, pledges and corporate matching made during October Giving Month enable us to strive with confidence toward this year's overall goal. Thank you for your support!
FAQ
Why give to Evergreen?
As with other independent schools across the country, yearly tuition at Evergreen does not cover the full cost of educating our students. The Evergreen Fund supports immediate operational needs each year contributing 7% of the school’s annual operating budget. This fund finances everyday operating costs including teacher materials, faculty salaries, technology, financial aid, campus maintenance, professional development, and much more. In the 2023-2024 year, 100% of the board of directors, 78% of the faculty and staff, and 92% of parents/guardians participated. The 2024-2025 annual goal is $1,180,000.
What are the main ways to give?
There are two financial asks by the Development Office every year and these are the primary ways to contribute to the Evergreen Fund:
- October Giving Month: In October, the school kicks off the most important fundraiser of the year. As members of our community, all constituents are asked to make or pledge a financial contribution to The Evergreen Fund that is meaningful for their family. While we emphasize October Giving Month, donations are accepted throughout the school year.
- Spring Benefit: In March, the Spring Benefit includes an auction that raises critical financial support for the Evergreen Fund, while also providing an occasion for the Evergreen community to come together and celebrate our school.
How else can I give financially to the school?
The Evergreen School welcomes other charitable gifts outside of the primary giving periods.
The Evergreen School Endowment: A gift to the endowment is never spent but invested, and annual distributions up to 4% of total net assets are made each year. This gift supports the school in perpetuity and helps with Evergreen’s long-term goals.
Gifts in Kind: Tangible gifts are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. For example, tangible gift contributions for the Spring Benefit include items like wine, vacation rentals, cooking classes, and so much more.
Campaigns: From time to time, the school will kick off a campaign, which is a large-scale fundraising effort to raise a specific amount of money within a defined time frame for a specific purpose. For example, from 2013 to 2017, The Evergreen School completed a capital campaign raising $18 million to expand the campus, including building the BIG Lab, intermediate area, and middle school classrooms.
Planned Giving: This entails a commitment established legally during a donor’s lifetime but whose principal benefits are not typically realized until a future time. This includes life insurance, trusts, retirement plan designations, or commitments through estate plans. Please consult with your tax advisors before arranging for a planned gift.
Other gifts may also be reviewed by the Development Committee and the Board of Directors in accordance with The Evergreen School Gift Policies and Guidelines.
How do I know what size gift to make?
Every family individually determines the right amount to contribute. Our ask is that you consider a gift that is meaningful to your family. Each year, your October Giving Month request letter will include a suggested gift amount. This meant as a guide, not a requirement. If you have specific questions or would like to discuss this further, please contact Kate Gorrissen at [email protected].

You have options:
- Check
- Cash
- Credit Card

- Cryptocurrency via a pre-approved third-party payment processor
- Employer Matching

How can I leverage my gift with a match from my employer?
Employee gift programs: Employers often have an employee matching gift program where the company matches donations made by their employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. We greatly rely on this as it doubles and sometimes triples your contribution to us. Please check here to see if your company has an employee matching gift program. Donors will be recognized at the level that includes both the cash gift and the matching amount.
Volunteer grant programs: Many companies have volunteer grant programs in which companies give monetary donations to nonprofit organizations where employees volunteer. If you volunteer, please check with your work if there is a volunteer grant program. It’s an easy way to provide us with additional financial support!
How will my gifts be acknowledged and recognized?
Contributions to The Evergreen Fund are recognized in The Evergreen School’s annual report and other publications by the donor's first and last name. Donors may request to remain anonymous or to be listed under a specific name.
Who else can donate?
We welcome contributions from extended family, companies, alumni and their families, and more. Even our students sometimes make small contributions. Every gift counts!
How can we support the school aside from financial donations?
There are many ways to be involved at the Evergreen School, and we are always looking for volunteers to help in various areas of the school including with development, the Parent/Guardian Association (PGA), our admissions office, and other areas.
What is The Evergreen School’s tax ID information?
The Evergreen school’s tax ID is: 91-0756462.
