Choosing Evergreen
When you choose Evergreen, you’re doing much more than selecting an academic program for your child.
You’re joining a deeply committed learning community that loves to think, create, and celebrate together.
At Evergreen, we emphasize greater depth over increased speed, differentiating instruction to make the most of each child’s talents and interests. Students who thrive at Evergreen often show high levels of curiosity, divergent thinking, imagination, and empathy, among other traits.
Together, we help raise exceptionally insightful, self-aware, intelligent young people who go on to thrive in high school, college, and career—and embrace their roles as local and global citizens.
Additionally, our community is firmly committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). We encourage you to explore our approach to DEIB at Evergreen and read through our Community Commitment Statement, an integral part of our enrollment agreement.
We’re happy to help you decide if Evergreen is right for your family. You may wish to start with the frequently asked questions below. And please feel free to contact us.

What are the main entry points?
Preschool, Prekindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st Grade are when many students begin at Evergreen. In addition, 6th Grade is also a notable entry point for our middle school. In other grades, spaces are limited and based on attrition, but we generally welcome a few new students at most grade levels. If you feel that Evergreen might be the right match for your child, we encourage you to submit an application.
What is the best age to start? How old does my child need to be?
For applicants applying to preschool, children must meet the following minimum age requirements by July 31:
- Preschool: Three years old
For applicants to prekindergarten and kindergarten, children must meet the following minimum age requirements by August 31:
- Prekindergarten: Four years old
- Kindergarten: Five years old
Exceptions will not be made to the age/cut-off date policy.
For applicants to 1st grade and above, there is no birthday cut-off date. However, we expect applicants to apply for the next sequential grade. If you are considering repeating or skipping a grade, please reach out to our team.
Please note: Students must be toilet trained prior to attending school in the fall.
