Simple Machines: Look How Well They Work!

At Evergreen, we're fans of experiential learning; teachers regularly create all sorts of interactive classroom activities to help students understand what they're studying. But the annual simple machines demo takes it to a higher level!
Simple machines is an important unit in 2nd grade. Every year, students spend several weeks learning about levers, pulleys, inclined planes and more. But to watch simple machines at work—to see our intrepid facilities staff, people students see around campus every day, being wheeled around—that is a treat. Plus, this way students get to be part of the experiment themselves!
