Evergreen Curriculum: Beyond the Basics
At Evergreen, students focus on core academic subjects, they also go beyond. Students' experience includes PE and recess all the way through 8th grade, as well as technology class, a range of arts—including music, visual, and performing arts—and advisor class, focusing on social relationships and executive-functioning strategies, all geared toward the student's age and development. Our Middle Arts program provides a particularly rich and varied experience for grades 6-8.
Through the World Language program, French, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese are offered. In kindergarten, students are introduced to all three language offerings over the course of the year. Beginning in 1st grade, they pursue one world language throughout their Evergreen education.

Global Studies and Overnight Camps
Global Studies is one of Evergreen's signature programs. In 8th grade, students dedicate one class all year to learning about a single country, such as Vietnam or Peru, and then, for their capstone Global Studies trip, they spent the month of May together in that country. Often a seminal experience for students in so many ways, this is something many alumni particularly remember when they think back on their time at Evergreen.
Evergreen also offers off-campus experiences at every grade level, from thoughtful field trips for all, to overnight camp experiences beginning with just one night in 1st grade (with a parent/guardian accompanying each student!) to five full days away in 7th grade. Overnight camps range from classic camp and team-building activities, to 5th grade's time at Port Townsend's Northwest Maritime Center, to 7th grade's outdoors-focused trip to the Olympic Peninsula.
