Testing Information
IQ Testing Overview
Our mission is to serve highly capable students. As a part of the admission process, we require students applying to kindergarten through 7th grade to submit the results of an IQ test. Typically, we find that students who thrive and are successful in our program score at or above the 95th percentile.
We are also committed to equity in identifying highly capable students and recognize that inherent bias may exist in IQ testing, particularly as it relates to students from historically marginalized groups. If you have any questions or concerns about testing, we encourage you to reach out to our Enrollment Management team to have a conversation.
The IQ test is not required for applicants to preschool and prekindergarten. However, it is a required step to continue into our kindergarten program.
IQ Testing Information:
- Test Administration: Evergreen does not administer IQ tests, but we provide a list below of licensed psychologists who do.
Tests Accepted: Evergreen accepts the following IQ tests: WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, or KABC-II.*
Psychologists will know the appropriate test to administer based on the student's age. We only accept tests from applicants who have already turned four years old at the time of the test.
Children may not take the same test twice in a one-year period.
IQ tests are generally considered valid for two years. For applicants to Kindergarten-3rd grade, the IQ test must have been taken after January 15, 2024. For applicants to 4th-7th grade, the IQ test must have been taken after September 1, 2023. If your child has taken an IQ test and you have questions about its validity, please reach out to us at [email protected]
*Please note that the KABC-II is a newer test and may or may not be accepted by other independent schools that require IQ testing as part of the admission process.
- Submitting Testing: Test reports must be received directly from the administering psychologist (not forwarded from the parent/guardian). They must be submitted by Evergreen's application deadline: January 15, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. and should be sent to [email protected].
- Cost: If the cost of the IQ testing will serve as a financial hardship for your family, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Additional Testing for 5th-7th Grade Applicants:
The Evergreen School has moved to a test-flexible policy for admission testing for applicants applying to grades 5-7. This means we will accept any standardized test results (MAP, ERB, etc.) a student has completed within the prior or current academic years. If an applicant has not taken a standardized test during that time, we require them to submit results from either the ISEE or SSAT.
If you choose to take either the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination) or the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test), please designate Evergreen as a recipient school for the test results. Our school codes are 3085 for the SSAT and 481692 for the ISEE.
Local Psychologists Offering IQ Testing
While Evergreen accepts test reports from any licensed psychologist, we offer this list of psychologists as a resource. Please contact psychologists directly to schedule an appointment.
